There will be beer

Oh yes, there will be beer. And you'll be able to drink it soon. Read on to find out how.

The ambition was always to have beer available before Christmas. There have been times when that ambition was feeling pretty unlikely. Starting from scratch with an empty workshop in September, there's certainly been no shortage of things to do...

But I'm mightily pleased and relieved to tell you that the first two batches are in the process of bottle conditioning and early sensory analysis is very positive. They're both delicious! The first is the European Pale Ale at 5.0%, a well balanced pale ale with masses of tropical fruit from the Kveik yeast and Hallertau Blanc hops and a solid malt backbone. Alongside it, we have the Smoked Rye Porter at 6.0%. Dark and chocolatey with plenty of smoke giving way to a roasty, spicy, velvety finish. You can read about them and how things went during the brewing process here.

The plan now is to get them into in shops over the festive period. Realistically this will be limited initially to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The labels aren't due to arrive until the week before Christmas so there's going to be some rapid label application followed by an intense delivery schedule. I'll post an up to date a list of stockists on this website. In the New Year I'll be working on distribution to more far-flung places, such as England, as well as brewing more beers, of course.

One way you can be sure to get hold of the first two is by visiting us at our open afternoon event at the brewery on Sunday the 22nd December. This is a one-off occasion to celebrate getting these first beers done and to meet and chat to all those who've supported us over the last few months. There'll be a mildly festive theme, perhaps a mince pie or two, a chance to sample and of course buy the beers. We'll be there from 1pm - 6pm, hope you can make it along.

Finally, a quick word about our new look. You may have already noticed we've updated the logo and this of course ties in with the labels and everything else. We've been working with Neil at Selected Works on this and we're really, really pleased with the results, which you'll be seeing more of soon. Neil's a super talented chap based in Glasgow and we're really delighted to have secured his services.
