Description
Light in colour and in alcoholic strength, yet full-bodied and full-flavoured, this is a crisp, citrus smasher. Generously hopped with Centennial, Kazbek and Lemondrop hops and brewed with a healthy dose of oats for a satisfying mouthfeel, this cheeky 3%-er is a small beer with big ideas.
Tasting Notes
Citrus fruit on the nose is unmissable as your glass approaches and this carries through to the first sip. On the palate a subtle spice note develops in the background and there’s plenty of body to carry the sharp, tangy hops and moderate bitterness. The body is full but light and spritzy with a zippy carbonation. Finishes medium dry, with a tingle.

What The Hell Was I Thinking?
The challenge with low ABV beers is to create enough body and mouthfeel from a small amount of grain to carry a generous hopping, and that’s what the oats and maltodextrin are here for. This is the first beer in the Big Ideas Series to include a US hop variety, and it wasn’t done without a fair bit of umm-ing and ah-ing, but the familiar ‘craft beer-iness’ that even a low dose of Centennial offers is another key element of what makes this beer work. The lemon citrus from Lemondrop and Kazbeck get a solid foundation and the result is a light, hoppy, sessionable modern pale ale.
